Adult Volunteer Opportunities
Required Board Positions It takes just five dedicated volunteers to charter a Troop and likely you already know. An AHG Troop Board consists of five adults: a Charter Representative, Troop Coordinator, Vice Coordinator, Troop Treasurer, and Troop Shepherd. These positions must be filled to have a troop!
Troop Coordinator & Vice Coordinator The responsibilities of these position are to be divided with the as your spiritual gifts, personalities, and experience dictate. This is a leadership team that will direct the troop board. You will not have to shoulder all of the responsibility but should be good at delegating and directing. In depth descriptions can be found below.
Treasurer This position assumes the responsibility for stewarding the Troop Budget and financial health of the Troop. A full description is below as well as some sample budget documents. You will have many resources and support, and you will not be alone in creating a working financial plan for the troop. However, experience with excel or other budgeting templates would be helpful. Desired Board PositionsAdult Member Volunteer Adult Members support the Troop Ministry team to effectively implement the AHG Program and encourage Girl Members to grow in their Christan faith.
Camp Ministry Team Support the mission of AHG of building women of integrity by leading the operation of a Day, Resident or Sunset Camp which incorporates the six Program Emphases of the American Heritage Girls Program.
Fundraising Chair Support the mission of AHG to build women of integrity by organizing and implementing fundraisers to keep Troop costs to a minimum, making AHG affordable for families.
Advancement Chair Support the mission of AHG to build women of integrity by organizing and tracking Adult and Girl Member awards and recognition. Troop Record Keeping Guide
Service Chair Support the mission of AHG to build women of integrity by planning service projects for the Troop, fostering the girls’ love for serving others and provide opportunities to put their faith into action.
Event Coordinator Support the AHG Mission by communicating and mobilizing varied event opportunities for Girl Members.

Unit Leaders & Assistant Unit LeadersPathfinders The Pathfinder Level is the first Level of the American Heritage Girls (AHG) program. A Pathfinder girl is at least 5 years old and typically in Kindergarten. As a Pathfinder, girls earn necklace beads for attendance; completing an activity from each Stepping Stone; learning Bible verses; and completing service projects. They can also earn the Fanny Crosby Level Award when they have completed this Level. Girls who complete their Level Award may also have time to work toward completion of their Joining Award. Tenderhearts The Tenderhearts Level is the second level of the American Heritage Girls (AHG) program. Tenderhearts, ages 6-9, grow in their faith and life skills through Troop activities, service and leadership opportunities, outdoor adventures, and earned achievements. This Program Level encourages girls to set goals and teaches them about dedication and perseverance.
Explorers Ready to take on more responsibility, Explorers ages, 9-12, are eager to grow in all areas of AHG. As Explorers progress through the AHG Program, they will have greater opportunities for service, leadership, and life skill experiences. Explorers love the welcoming and fun environment!
Pioneer/Patriot Pioneers are given the opportunity to find out who they truly are in Christ. Girls are encouraged to explore their interests and abilities in a safe environment. The Pioneer Level is where a girl’s Christian leadership skills accelerate through advanced opportunities in the Troop and community.
As Patriots teenage girls learn life skills vital to adulthood through Troop activities and Girl Leadership opportunities. Unit Leaders serve as facilitators as Patriots take on more ownership of their Unit, allowing girls to make decisions regularly. Girl friendships deepen through outdoor experiences and high adventure opportunities. Patriots develop rich spiritual maturity and practice their faith through servant leadership.
